Socially Unacceptable Post 2: Stereotype

They say we’re dangerous. Scary. Lacking empathy, conscience, or intelligence. They are wrong.

When I started telling people I had schizophrenia, they had preconceptions. I have to say using horror movies and thrillers for your source of information for any mental illness is ignorance taken to a new level.

We are not monsters. I thought I was once, because I didn’t know what schizophrenia was. But we can’t be shoved into the box that society wants to put us in.

We are fucking strong. We deal with more crap than anyone should have to deal with.

If it seems we are weak, it is because we are holding up the sky.

This is an autobiographical series about my life, something I have wanted to do for a long time. I intend to add new content daily.
